Adding Customers in GrownBy 3.0

Adding Customers in GrownBy 3.0

You may want to add a customer to your customer page. You may want to do this because they're uninterested or unable to use an app or website or because they're having a bit of trouble logging on. Here is a video showing how to add customers and more.

GrownBy Customer Accounts
When looking at adding new customers it is important to understand how customers work across the GrownBy platform. Customers can sign-up for GrownBy and be associated with no farms, one farm, or many farms. Once a customer has made a purchase from your farm, they cannot be removed from your customer list because that account information is needed for the record of the sale. For this reason and others, the "Customer" list and export are not the best places to find customer email addresses if you have more than one season of selling. It's best to get that information from the "Distributions" tab and exports.

Connecting your farm and Customers
A customer can be connected to your farm--and therefore show up on your customer list--in one of several ways. They can:
  1. Favorite your farm
  2. Make a purchase from your farm
  3. Be added by the farmer directly

Add New Customer
When a farmer adds a customer's email address and that customer has not signed up for GrownBy already, the farmer is prompted to add the customer. If a farmer attempts to add a customer that is already in the GrownBy system, a message stating that the customer is already in GrownBy will appear and an invite will be sent to the customer. Existing customers can also “Favorite” your farm by clicking the heart on your farm profile page. Then they will appear on your customer list and you can help them add a new order.

After you add the customer, you cannot edit their information within GrownBy. The customer will be sent a notification that they were added to GrownBy and that they should reset their password. The customer is responsible for editing their account under the User tab going forward. If you need assistance, please reach out to us.

Notes: On the Add Customer page is Email Address 1 and Email Address 2. This is a useful field for friends or couples who may share a CSA share throughout a season.

From your main Customer page, you can:
  1. Export Customer Data
  2. Find Customer contacts
  3. Review Customer balances
  4. From each customer's detail page you can:
    1. Create a new order for a customer, including subscriptions
    2. Create Invoices
    3. Adjust Farm Credit
    4. Send a message directly to the customer
    5. View customer invoices
    6. Manage Customer CSA shares, including providing vacation weeks
