Getting started on GrownBy

GrownBy is a direct marketing software (on desktop and mobile app) that is owned by farmers, like you. Using it, you can sell products via an online shop or sell shares and manage CSA customers.

Or, if you’d like to dive right in, please follow the below steps.  We’ve tried to make the process of getting started as simple as possible for you. We have created a brief list of information and materials you might want to gather before you get started. If you follow these steps, you’ll be ready to start taking orders on GrownBy in no time! 

Registering an account and claiming your farm

  1. First, click here for the GrownBy registration page. Even though phone login is available, we strongly recommend that farm admins use their Email address to create GrownBy accounts. It is much easier to share login credentials as needed with others on your farm this way. (Note: we encourage your customers to use phone login because it is more secure and they are less likely than farmers to need to share credentials). Enter your details and click Register. It looks like this: 

      2. Once you’ve registered, you will be brought to the farm search page. Search for your farm in our database. If you find your farm, click Claim this farm. If not, click Can’t find your farm? Register it. at the top right of the screen. It looks like this: 

      3. If you have found your farm, click Claim this farm and then again, Claim this farm once you have reviewed the details on the next page. It looks like this: 

      4. Next, click Send Verification Email and then check your email for your code. Enter it into GrownBy. The email looks like this: 

      5. You can now start setting up your farm on GrownBy. The page you will be brought to after entering your code looks like this:

You can now proceed to setting up your farm, below. 

Farm Set-up

Before you get started, gather the information and materials in this list. The following steps must be completed next (you will also receive a welcome email with them):

  1. Update farm profile - Enter the information requested on the Farm Profile page. The first part of the page looks like this: 

      2. Configure Payments: Follow the instructions in this article to set up payment information. GrownBy uses a processor called Stripe to run credit card transactions. You will need some basic business information and documentation to complete this step.

      3. Configure SNAP/EBT: SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program of the USDA.  In order to become certified to accept SNAP and the EBT payment method, follow these directions

      6. Add CSAs, Products, and Subscriptions: For information about adding Subscriptions & CSA Shares; for information about Standard Products.

      7. Review your shop: Choose “Your Shop” from the menu on the left to see your shop as your customers will see it. If you’d like us to review your shop before you share it with your customers, just ask us at

      8. Share your shop: At the bottom of the set-up screen, there will be a link that you can share with your customers. If you would like us to customize your URL to include your farm name, just email us. You can also access the link on your dashboard by clicking Your Shop:
